This hearty Shepherd’s Pie features a savory ground beef filling topped with creamy mashed potatoes. It’s the ultimate comfort food, perfect for a cozy dinner. With easy ingredients and delicious layers, it’s a crowd-pleasing meal everyone will love!




Ingredients You'll Need

 
  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 medium onion, chopped

  • 1 cup frozen peas and carrots (or mixed vegetables)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/4 cup beef broth

  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 4 cups mashed potatoes (prepared in advance)

  • 1 tablespoon butter (for topping)

  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for topping)


Making the Filling

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook the ground beef until browned. Break it apart as it cooks.

  • Drain excess fat, then add chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened.

  • Stir in peas, carrots, beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes until everything is well combined.


Assembling the Shepherd’s Pie

  • Transfer the beef mixture into a baking dish (9x9-inch or similar).

  • Spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the top, covering the filling completely.

  • Dot with butter and top with shredded cheddar cheese, if desired.


Baking

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.

  • Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
